TOP 10: RE-RELEASED GAMES![]() Posted by Thomas Worthington on Jan 20, 2009 12:51 (309 days ago) |
In light of the rumours and confirmation of the re-release of Mass Effect, we decided that a top 10 is in order of some of the stand out re-releases, don’t consider this a top 10 however it is more a list of honourable mentions, re-release that are more stand out for their greatness or their shoddiness. To be honest we were going to do a Top 10 of shoddy rip offs based on Forbes poorly tearing Rockband a new one but there are only so many Wii games you can mention (we don’t hate the Wii, we love it but you gotta wade through a lot of crap before you find some gold). Anyways enjoy our respective list of titles with infamous re-releases!
![]() ![]() Nights into Dreams (1996-2008)
Saturn > PS2
Starting with what is highly considered a classic among Sonic Team fans and despite a slightly poor sequel, Night originally hit the Sega Saturn in 1996 before the ship sunk for Sega taking Nights down with it. Surprisingly Nights made it to all territories before the Saturn’s downfall which you wouldn’t expect because of the games very Japanese nature. Given thrn, around the time the sequel hit earlier this year, a ‘port’ of the original Saturn was re-released on the PS2 in Japan only including 16:9 wide screen support and a few extras including the infamous ‘Christmas Nights’. Currently there are no plans to release this re-release outside of Japan.
![]() ![]() ![]() Resident Evil 4 (2004-present)
Gamecube > PS2 > Wii > Mobile
Resident Evil 4 hit the Gamecube at just the right time, thinks we not going so well for the little system that could and Resident Evil 4 proved to be the game to save it some more time. The game later hit the PS2 over a year later despite director Shinji Mikami originally saying he would “cut his own head off” if the game broke its exclusivity with the Gamecube. Finally in 2007, a re-release of Resident Evil 4 hit the Wii combining the fantastic visuals of the Gamecube version, the extra chapters and weapons of the PS2 version and sealing the deal with some neat Wii controls. Later followed a slightly impressive looking Mobile phone version of the game.
