On November 15th, Stormwind and Ironforge underwent an elemental invasion, one of the biggest events to be implemented for the next World of Warcraft expansion - Cataclysm

On the evening of November 15th, any players in Stormwind or Ironforge would've experienced one of the biggest pre-Cataclysm events to be implemented by Blizzard.

Elemental Invasion

The event began with NPCs shouting to evacuate the city as portals appeared, these were to help low level players escape the cities. Then sandbags would appear and players would need to pick them up and pile them around the city. Elemental mobs began to appear; each district of Stormwind and Ironforge had to be cleared of elemental mobs and rifts as part of the event. Trapped citizens also had to be rescued using totems from the Earthcaller NPCs around both cities. The event occurs approximately every two hours and will continue to do so for the next week or two.

New Dungeon Bosses

Immediately after the event players can kill 4 event-related dungeon bosses, three of these bosses are classic ones that have been increased to a level 80 heroic equivalent boss, and the fourth one has been introduced just for this event. The four bosses are: Khai'ju Gahz'rilla in Zul Farrak, Princess Theradras in Maraudon, Grand Ambassador Flamelash in Blackrock Depths and finally Prince Sarasun in Ahn'Qiraj. When players enter each dungeon, King Varian Wrynn will offer a quest for the player to kill Khai'ju Gahz'rilla and Prince Sarasun, these two quests are handed back into Stormwind. King Magni Bronzebeard will offer quests to kill Princess Theradas and Grand Ambassador Flamelash, these quest will be handed into Ironforge. The bosses drop nice loot of level 251, and defeating them isn't too difficult. These dungeons are easy to get into using the Random Dungeon Finder tool, but the bosses will only be available for around half an hour after the elemental invasion has ended.
