Activision Looking to Sell Bizarre Creations
Studio may close if buyer not found within 90 days.
The studio behind Project Gotham Racing, Geometry Wars, and the recently released Blur among others may close. Parent company Activision has revealed they are currently looking for a buyer and may shutter the studio if one is not found.
A statement released by Activision earlier today stated the following,
"Over the past three years since our purchase of Bizarre Creations, the fundamentals of the racing genre have changed significantly. Although we made a substantial investment in creating a new IP, Blur, it did not find a commercial audience.
"Bizarre is a very talented team of developers, however, because of the broader economic factors impacting the market, we are exploring our options regarding the future of the studio, including a potential sale of the business."
According to an inside source who spoke to gaming website Giant Bomb, the studio has approximately 90 days to find a buyer.
The studio has recently released James Bond 007: Blood Stone and Blur for various platforms.
Bizarre Creations was purchased by Activision in 2007, shortly after the studio released Project Gotham Racing 4 on the Xbox 360. Roughly 200 employees work at Bizarre Creations.
