Electronic Arts Not Interested in Harmonix Acquisition

Electronic Arts CEO states his company has no plans to purchas Harmonix Music Systems.

Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello in an interview with Bloomberg, revealed his company has no plans in purchasing Harmonix Music Systems. The studio was recently put up for sale by parent company Viacom.

Riccitiello states the purchase would make "theoretical" sense but would not fit in with EA's long term goals.

"I'm sure some smart investor will buy the business feeling that they can catch a falling knife," he said, "but more people have been cut trying to catch falling knives than have benefitted from getting the timing exactly right."

Harmonix's Rock Band series is distributed by Electronic Arts.
