Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Confirmed, Will Support 3D
Naughty Dog reveals details on Uncharted 3, with more coming soon.
Speaking through Entertainment Weekly, Naughty Dog has confirmed the official name of the newest Uncharted game: Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception. It's set to release in late 2011.
The game's story will send Drake to the Arabian Peninsula and the Rub' al Khali Desert in search of a "legendary lost city". It will revolve around his relationship with his mentor, Victor "Sully" Sullivan.
Drake's Deception will borrow from the the book of James Cameron by using more motion-capture filmmaking techniques. Entertainment Weekly was given a glimpse of the game's environment:
"The execs at Naughty Dog walked us through one of the game's levels ... marked by dynamic camera work and gameplay that requires you to jump and climb through treacherous spaces that are in an almost constant state of change - or in this case, catastrophic collapse."
The game has improved on its backwards climbing, and will allow players to fight multiple enemies at once. Naughty Dog has also spent a lot of time expanding the co-op mode and online multiplayer. Finally, according to the PlayStation blog, Drake's Deception will support high-resolution Stereoscopic 3D.
Entertainment Weekly also has a brief trailer, and it looks like another will be shown during the Spike Videogame Awards on December 11. Naughty Dog will also be showing off the first gameplay demo during Late Night on Monday the 13th, according to Jimmy Fallon's Twitter.
