Infinity Blade Sets App Store Record
Apple's Infinity Blade rakes in well over $1.7 million in four days.
The recently released iOS game Infinity Blade has obliterated the old record for fastest grossing app. It was reported that the fighting game made $1.7 million in its first four days in the app store. However, Mark Rein of Epic Games sent a statement to Joystiq explaining that the actual numbers are quite a bit higher and noted that some free content will be released soon.
"In the meantime we're really excited about the reaction to Infinity Blade and we really appreciate all the customers who are buying the game and gifting the game to others as well! We have some great new FREE extra content coming really soon. You should see more on that in the next week."
Over 286,000 players have downloaded Infinity Blade so far. The previous record was held by Cut the Rope, which made $1 million in its first ten days.
Infinity Blade was released on December 9, 2010 for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad.
