In World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, Guild Perks were introduced, these are various rewards that encourage players to be in a guild and complete dungeons and raids as a Guild.

In World of Warcraft, it is not mandatory to be in a guild, and some players even prefer not to. However, there are many advantages to being in a guild such as obtaining crafted items as opposed to buying them, help with dungeons, and group quests. With the new Guild Perks, it is even more advantageous to be part of an active guild.

Guild Levels and Achievements

Guild Perks are obtained by a guild obtaining levels, the more active players there are, the quicker a guild will gain levels. Players themselves will also earn reputation with their guild for completing quests, similar to obtaining reputation with a faction. The higher a player's guild reputation the more rewards they will be able to get. There are also guild achievements which can range from completing low level dungeons in a guild group, to killing 50,000 critters.

Guild Perks and Rewards

Every guild starts at level 1, perks begin after this level.

  • Level 2 Fast Track - players will gain an additional 5% xp from completing quests and killing mobs.

  • Level 24 Bartering - reduces the price of all goods from vendors by 10%
  • Level 25 Mass Resurrection - brings all guild party/raid members back to live with 35% health and mana
Other Guild Rewards
There are other rewards that a player can have from their guild such as companion pets, a nice new range of heirlooms for their alts, and even a mount. These items still have to be purchased however, from the guild vendors in Stormwind or Orgrimmar. These items only become available if the guild has obtained certain achievements and the player has the required reputation level.

Guild Perks is a very good idea introduced for Cataclysm, making it much more beneficial to be in a guild then ever before. The rewards and achievements are interesting and fun to do. As long as a guild has a good core group of active players, they can soon gain higher levels.
