Konami Preparing For Hudson Soft Acquisition
Konami set to acquire 100% stake in Hudson Soft this Spring.
Konami has announced plans to acquire Japanese game publisher Hudson Soft via a stock swap. Konami currently has a 54% stake in Hudson Soft, the deal to acquire the remaining 56% is expected to complete on April 1st of this year.
Konami has stated the acquisition is fueled by Hudson's knowledge and experience in the mobile gaming market.
Hudson CEO Michihiro Ishizuka is expected to resign on March 31st, 2011 and will be replaced by Konami's Kazuhiko Uehara. Konami is also looking into any potential name changes and the combination of business operations.
Hudson Soft was founded on May 18, 1973 in Sapporo, Japan. The company is currently headquartered in Tokyo.
