Flood of PlayStation Phone Info Hits the Web
Sony has officially announced the Xperia Play and continues to release details.
The PlayStation Phone, officially the Xperia Play, was announced via a Super Bowl commercial on February 6. It was presented at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on February 13 at 6PM GMT, and the details keep pouring in.
Firstly, Sony has revealed two versions of the Xperia besides the Play: Neo and Pro. The Xperia Neo has a 3.7 inch screen and a resolution of 854 x 480 paired with Sony's Bravia graphics engine and a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU. You can plug the Neo into your HDTV. The Xperia Pro is similar, but with a sliding QWERTY keyboard.
Getting to the Play, it will have a 4 inch multi-touch LCD screen with a 854 x 480 resolution and runs at 60 fps. It comes with a slide-out controller and has 5 hours and 35 minutes of battery life. Plus it will have stereo speakers, built-in Bluetooth and WiFi functionality, Sony's Timescape UI layer, and a camera.
It will also include a preloaded "legendary" game from the original PlayStation plus a number of the most popular games from the Android, and will be capable of local area multiplayer. There will be 50 more games available for purpose on launch day, which will be sometime in March. Sony has said that it will be available with Verizon in "early spring."
