Nintendo Confirms Wii Successor To Be Unveiled At E3 2011
Nintendo announces a successor to the Wii will be unveiled at E3 2011.
Nintendo has confirmed through a release that a Wii successor will be unveiled at E3 2011. The release also announced the Wii has sold over 86 million units worldwide since launch.
Nintendo Co., Ltd. has decided to launch in 2012 a system to succeed Wii, which the company has sold 86.01 million units on a consolidated shipment basis between its launch in 2006 and the end of March 2011.
We will show a playable model of the new system and announce more specifications at the E3 Expo, which will be held June 7-9, 2011, in Los Angeles.
The system will launch in 2012 according to the company. The system is rumored to retail around the $350-400 range.
Rumors of a successor to the Wii, dubbed "Project Cafe" have been rampant the past few weeks. The system will supposedly surpass both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in terms of system power and feature a controller with a six inch screen built in. The system is also rumored to be backwards compatible with both the Gamecube and Wii.
E3 Expo 2011 will be held in Los Angeles from June 7 to the 9th.
