Can a blocky make over win over a whole new audience for Rock Band?

It’s difficult to say whether or not the partnering of Rock Band and Lego is a result of the franchises success or a swift response to Activision’s Band Hero. Whichever option you choose to define this odd partnering one thing should be crystal clear: this is still Rock Band, the rhythm game we all know and some of us have even grown to love. But what can coloured bricks really add to the Rock Band series?

Rating For Lego: Rock Band Review
Presentation
    8.0

Anyone who has played Rock Band or any game of its calibre will find this an easy to pick up experience. The addition of new easier modes and shortcuts to encourage a new audience are all welcome.

Visuals
    8.0

It's a charming and at times comedic makeover from the classic game but the shine wears off sooner than it should. Everything remains pretty faithful to both brands.

Audio
    7.0

The soundtrack is all over the place. The chances of finding anyone who is happy with a majority of the 45 songs on the disc is unlikely. The short versions of the songs are awkwardly editted.

Overall
    7.0

It's not a solid package but there's a lot more to love about Lego: Rock Band and there is to hate about it. It's Rock Band at heart and that's what shines through the Lego exterior.
