Derby Road Named After Lara Croft
Derby road named after Tomb Raider heroine Lara Croft.
Lara Croft will soon get her own road in Derby, a £36.2m project will garner the Croft name after receiving an overwhelming 89% majority vote in an online user poll.
Cabinet member for planning and transportation councillor Lucy Care had the following to say,
"The vote really captured the imagination of people from across the world and, despite my lack of gaming knowledge, I accept that a majority of 89% for Lara Croft is too overwhelming to ignore.
"She was created in Derby and deserves to stand alongside some of the more traditional icons of the city."
Lara Croft as well as the Tomb Raider franchise were created in the UK city at the now defunct Core Design, the staff and some assets were purchased by Rebellion Developments who has now announced plans to shutter the studio if it is not purchased by another party.
