Guide: Using the Random Dungeon Finder tool in World of Warcraft
The random dungeon finder tool recently implemented in World of Warcraft has huge advantages for low and top level players.
As soon as player reaches level 15 they can then use the random dungeon finder to find a group for either a random dungeon or a specific one selected from a drop down list. With the tool a player can select their role and they enter a queue, the player is free to continue questing while they are in the queue, the only restriction is that a player cannot enter a battleground whilst waiting for a dungeon.
Options in the Random Dungeon Finder
A player is only able to select level appropriate dungeons. The same applies for level 80 players; they can only select a dungeon from the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. A player can choose to also be the dungeon guide when selecting their role, the guide will instruct other party members on certain fights, such as where to stand. A player cannot select a role they cannot fulfil, as an example a Priest can select healer or damage but is not able to be a tank as that class is not capable of that feat.
Rewards for Completing a Dungeon
If a player completes a dungeon using the tool they will get a reward. Low level players will receive experience and money which increases as their level does, and a 'Satchel of Helpful Goods'. The satchel should contain a blue item of use to the player, using the tool daily will quickly improve a player's gear significantly. For level 80 players, if they complete the dungeon in normal mode they will receive gold and 2 Emblems of Triumph, which are exchanged for gear, if completed on heroic mode a player will receive 2 Emblems of Frost.
Advantages in using the Random Dungeon Finder
Particularly for low level players there are many advantages, mainly being able to complete dungeon quests with a level appropriate group. Also as a player is teleported into the dungeon they do not have to travel to get there. This is useful if a horde group want to complete the Stormwind Stockades for example as they no longer have to try and enter it through the enemy city.
Disadvantages in using the Random Dungeon Finder
The main disadvantage of the dungeon finder tool is players falling out, or needing loot that is of no use to them. There is an option to kick a player from the party if the other members agree.
If a player does leave or is kicked, the other members can reselect their roles and wait for someone else to sign up, and the party can then continue.
Achievements and the Random Dungeon Finder
If a level 80 player regularly uses the tool to complete Wrath of the Lich King heroics, they can start to earn achievements. The first is 'Looking for More' which is when a player has used the tool to complete 10 dungeons. Then after 50 random heroics completed, a player will earn the achievement 'Looking for Many' and a title of 'The Patient'. Once a player has used the tool to complete 100 heroic dungeons the achievement earned is 'Looking for Multitudes' with a Perky Pug pet as the reward.
Overall the Random Dungeon Finder is beneficial for all players, and lets players complete dungeons they would previously have struggled finding a group for.
