This summer, Rare will be turning 25, and in celebration of this amazing feat Rare has unveiled their new logo (seen above). Rare is the company behind classics such as Donkey Kong, GoldenEye, Banjo-Kazooie, and Perfect Dark. Head of Studio Mark Betteridge had the following to say,
"Both Rare and the games industry have seen massive changes over the past 25 years, and right now it feels as if both we and the industry are continuing to evolve at an ever-increasing pace. With this landmark anniversary coming up, and knowing that we have a really exciting future ahead, we felt now was the time to have a new image more in keeping with an innovative and creative entertainment company which aspires to be around for at least the next 25 years!"
Rare was founded 25 years ago by Tim and Chris Stamper, who held majority share in the company before selling their 51% to Microsoft in 2002. Nintendo who signed an exclusive publishing agreement with Rare in 1994 would follow and sell their 49% share in the company to Microsoft. On January 2nd, 2007 Tim and Chris left Rare to "pursue other opportunities".
Congratulations Rare, further variations of Rare's logo can be found on their official site.
