Batman: Arkham City Releasing Fall 2011

The sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum gets an official name and release window.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced today the name for the upcoming Batman title, Batman: Arkham City.

The game was first revealed in a trailer at the 2009 Spike TV Video Game Awards and featured the Joker's return.

Details on Arkham City are slim but, the game is being developed by Rocksteady Studios. Given the name of the game players will take control of Batman while he explores Arkham City. Arkham City according to the press release is "the new maximum security home for all of Gotham City's thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds." The area is "heavily fortified" and the game will bring a new cast of villains into the mix.

Batman: Arkham City will release in Fall 2011 on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
