30 Million Wii's Sold in America
The Nintendo Wii just sold its 30 millionth console in the United States.
Nintendo has announced that the Wii has hit the 30 million sales mark in the United States, and did so in only 45 months since launch. After nearly three years, the console continues to sell, doing so at a rate 15 months faster than the competitors. It has long been the fastest-selling console in the history of the video game industry according to Nintendo.
"More than any other video game system in history, Wii has expanded the world of video games to new audiences," said NOA's Cammie Dunaway."This milestone is another reminder that people want fun games they can play with others - all at a value-minded price."
According to NPD group, the follow titles were Nintendo's top selling published titles on the Wii in the United States.
- Wii Play
- Mario Kart Wii
- Wii Fit (with Wii Balance Board accessory)
- New Super Mario Bros. Wii
- Wii Sports Resort
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl
- Super Mario Galaxy
- Wii Fit Plus (with Wii Balance Board accessory)
- Mario Party 8
- Link's Crossbow Training
NPD also included a list of top selling third party titles published on the Wii for June 2010.
- Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock - Activision
- Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games - SEGA
- LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga - LucasArts
- Carnival Games - Take-Two Interactive

The Nintendo Wii originally launched in America on November 19, 2006. The system currently has an MSRP of $199.99 USD.
