Rumor: Borderlands Developer to Try Its Luck with Duke Nukem Forever
Duke Nukem Forever may continue development at a new studio.
Rumors are circulating that the studio that brought us such titles as Borderlands and Brothers In Arms are continuing development of Duke Nukem Forever. A decade after the game began development at 3D Realms, anonymous sources claim that Gearbox Software will attempt to create the game worth waiting for.
The new Duke Nukem game was thought to be doomed after publisher Take-Two Interactive sued 3D Realms in 2009 for taking nine years to make a game. It is speculated that Take-Two still retains publishing rights, the two parties reached a settlement in May of this year.
Gearbox would be picking up the project after apparently scrapping their plans to make a Duke Nukem spin-off called "Duke Begins" earlier this year.
Kotaku asked Gearbox president Randy Pitchford for comment, only to be told that he may comment on the rumor at this year's Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle.
