New Tony Hawk Game To Target Younger Audience

Tony Hawk: Shred aims to get kids off the couch and skate.

Activision announced the newest entry in the Tony Hawk franchise, Tony Hawk: Shred. Shred will be a first for the Tony Hawk series as it is being developed mainly for younger gamers.

Shred will take advantage of the Tony Hawk: Ride motion board. The controls are being adapted for Shred, so they will be different from the controls seen in Tony Hawk: Ride. Graphically, the game will take on a cartoon look to appeal to the younger audience as well.

The press release says that the motion board will allow "kids to get off the couch" and that "kids will be actively using their boundless energy while riding as any of Shred's pro skate or snowboarders." Activision is looking to target the game to children between the ages of six and 12.

Tony Hawk: Shred will launch this holiday season for the Playstation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360.
