Upcoming Releases: Special Editions

With the upcoming big name releases come some big special edition sets - a quick insight into a top 5, and how much damage they'll do to your wallet.

Though game releases are in downtime at the moment, there are a number of releases set for the autumn that could set the game charts alight. Or maybe just burn through the hard-earned cash in your wallet.

Here are my top 5 Special Edition releases for the coming months.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Collector's Edition

Release date unconfirmed
The third expansion to the world's most popular MMORPG, Cataclysm is set to introduce two new races alongside around 3000 new quests.

The Collector's Edition comes in at $79.99 and features:

• 'Art of the Cataclysm' art book
• 17-track soundtrack, including exclusive bonus tracks
• Behind-the-scenes DVD, including a look at the history of the Warcraft universe
• WoW Trading Card game cards- a 60-card starter deck, two exclusive hero cards and two extended-art cards
• Special mouse mat featuring Deathwing and the continents of Azeroth
• An exlcusive in-game pet

As well as a general release date, there is no confirmation of European release of the Collector's Edition

Fallout: New Vegas Collector's Edition

Released 19th October (North America), October 22nd (Europe)
Bethesda had a lot to live up to after shipping a bobblehead Vault Boy and metal 'lunchbox' with Fallout 3- and they have certainly delivered.

$79.99 will get you the game and:

• A set of 7 'Lucky 7' poker chips representing the major casinos on the New Vegas strip
• An illustated deck of F:NV cards, showing characters and factions from the game
• An extra-special poker chip- a replica of the 'Lucky 38' chip from the game itself
• 'All Road', a hardback graphic novel that gives some background to the characters and events leading up to F:NV
• A documentary 'Making Of' DVD complete with developer interviews and exclusive videos

As yet, there is no word of a European release date of the Collector's Edition for Fallout: New Vegas. Let's hope there is one!

Halo: Reach Limited Edition/Legendary Edition

Released September 14th
Bungie have really pushed the boat out with what is said to be the final part of the Halo franchise- with not just one, but two different special editions of the Noble Team's epic journey.

The Limited Edition is priced at $79.99/£59.99 and gives you:

• Custom game case
• Custom in-game Elite armour for Multiplayer
• a replica of Dr Halsey's ONI Security Badge
• an embroidered Spartan II patch
• 'Artifact Bag', containing documents and notes from Dr Catherine Halsey, creator of the SPARTAN program

The Legendary Edition will set you back a massive $149.99, and gives you all the content of the Limited Edition PLUS:

• UNSC-themed packaging
• Exclusive in-game Spartan armour effect (flaming helmet)
• a hand-painted and individually numbered Noble Team statue
