Atlus Dissolved by Japanese Holding Company

Developer Atlus is now under direct control of owner Index Holdings.

Atlus, creator of the Shin Megami Tensei series, ceased to be an independent company on Monday. Its parent company, Index Holdings, brought the company under its control in order to further narrow its focus and increase profits. Apparently, Index has been making business decisions for Atlus for awhile.

However, this does not mean that Atlus is gone. The brand will continue to exist, and Katsura Hashino and the team that is working on Catherine will be unaffected by the changes. Besides these two details, it is not yet clear how Atlus's properties and divisions, as well as Atlus USA, will be affected. The US division of the company has yet to comment on the event.
