Microsoft "Game Feast" Lineup Revealed
Super Meat boy is among the XBLA titles to be released during Game Feast,
Starting on September 29, Microsoft will release a series of new XBLA titles in a four week long event called "Game Feast." Microsoft announced the four new releases scheduled for this event today.
The kick-off in this feast of games is Hydrophobia. Developer Dark Energy Digital created an entirely new engine for this game, the HydroEngine, which is "the world's first true fluid dynamics engine for games." Hydrophobia promises to include water that flows and behaves in a realistic fashion and a combat experience that is different every time you play.
The next game is brought to you by the creators of Splosion Man and The Maw. Comic Jumper follows the adventures of Captain Smiley as he jumps into other comic books to rescue their misguided plotlines. Players will explore "four totally unique comic book art styles in both 2-D and 3-D," encountering many characters, missions, unlockables, and Xbox freebies.
Third is Pinball FX 2, which will make video pinball history with its split-screen local multiplayer mode. It also features a new physics model "that surpasses anything available so far," a better Operators Menu, full backwards compatibility, and a host of online multiplayer features.
Finally, Super Meat Boy. In this very unusual platformer, you will play as a cube of meat who must save his girlfriend from a fetus in a tuxedo in a jar. Microsoft describes the gameplay as "no BS, just straight-forward twitch reflex platforming." Meat Boy will jump over a variety of items including buzz saws and old needles in over 300 levels. The old-school style platforming will be broken up by "epic boss fights."
Each game will be released at the beginning of a new week, with Super Meat Boy introducing itself on October 20.
