Poor Response to Elemental Leads to Layoffs
Stardock head Brad Wardell explains company's recent layoffs.
After calling the launch of Elemental: War of Magic a "fail," Stardock head Brad Wardell has confirmed rumors of layoffs due to the game's poor sales figures.
The rumors started after Shacknews received a tip from an anonymous source that members of the Elemental design and sales teams had been let go. Wardell responded to questions about these rumors on the Stardock forums, citing a lack of revenue for the team's next project. However, he said that no one is being blamed for the company's difficulties.
"No one is being fired. None of these people did anything wrong. Stardock is a small company and each person here is truly amongst the best and brightest ... It would be great if we can bring as many of these people back over time if the studio can afford it."
Wardell also assured fans that none of the people involved in the "core components" of War of Magic were laid off, and cites his own poor judgment as part of the reason for the low sales figures.
