Metroid Creator Discusses Next Nintendo Console

New console will be jaw-dropping, says Yoshio Sakamoto.
In an interview with 3DJuegos (translated by CVG), Metroid creator Yoshio Sakamoto raised the expectations of Wii fans everywhere. Nintendo's next console will "leave you all with your mouth open," says Sakamoto.
"At Nintendo we always have the obligation to surprise users with a new game console. We have never done what others have. We prefer to create something new that catches attention, and I think this will continue this time as well."
Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata recently told BBC that he doesn't think there is a need for a Wii successor right now, and it could be quite a few years before that need arises.

I suppose they're probably in development on the next one already, even if it is a few years out. I wouldn't be surprised to start seeing new systems next summer at E3, or at least by the year after.
