Silent Hill 8 Announced

Konami just announced that Silent Hill 8 will be coming to Xbox and PS3 in 2011.

Konami Digital Entertainment announced today that a new Silent Hill game will be coming soon. The untitled game (currently referred to as Silent Hill 8) will launch in 2011 on the Xbox 360 and PS3.

The newest entry will be a third-person action game, and seeks to return to the series' roots. The developers promise a 'thought-provoking' storyline, mind-bending puzzles and plenty of horrifying creatures. The game will allow players to choose whether they fight or take flight, and will include a number of side quests that "can change depending on their play style."

Details on the new plot are scarce. The game begins with a prison transport vehicle careening off a road, leaving a lone inmate stranded in Silent Hill. Players apparently take control of this inmate, Murphy Pendleton, as he tries to escape. Konami will likely be releasing more details in the coming months.
