PSP 2 Exists Claims NetherRealm Studios
NetherRealm's Shaun Himmerick is looking at the new PSP as a possible platform for the Mortal Kombat reboot.
In an interview with IndustryGamers, NetherRealm Studios' Shaun Himmerick revealed that the company has a PSP 2 and is considering it and the 3DS as platforms for the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot.
"We're not launching day one on all consoles like that. We are looking at them; we have a PSP2 in the house and we're looking at the engine, like what can it support ... PSP2 looks like it's a pretty powerful machine."
Sony has remained tight-lipped about the development of the PSP 2, but rumors have suggested that it may be released next year. If the device is already being passed out to developers, it seems likely that the rumors are true.
Himmerick had nothing else to say about the PSP 2, but NetherRealm apparently does not have a 3DS yet, which is expected for release in the first quarter of 2011. It remains to be seen whether the new PSP will be ready in time to challenge Nintendo's new handheld.
