Sony Warns Against Using Counterfeit Controllers
Unofficial PlayStation 3 controllers may stop working or even explode, says Sony.
Sony recently put out a consumer alert concerning the use of counterfeit and unlicensed PlayStation 3 wireless controllers, which look almost exactly the same as the official hardware.
The alert warns PS3 owners that said controllers may be unreliable or even dangerous.
"It is possible that some counterfeit product may ignite or explode, resulting in injury or damage to the user, your PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, or other property."
Even if the unlicensed product doesn't blow up, future system software updates could cause them to stop functioning due to the fact that Sony Computer Entertainment does not support them. Sony also reminds players that the company is not liable for any loss or damage to either your PlayStation or yourself.
