EA to Launch PC Medal of Honor Beta
The PC-only open beta will open on October 4 and close on October 7.
EA just announced in a press released that the Multiplayer Open Beta for the Medal of Honor reboot will commence on October 4 and last for four days. This beta will only be open to PC gamers, although EA affirms they are grateful for the feedback they received from PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners back in July.
The beta will contain two maps and two modes. The Shahikot Mountains map will have players searching for survivors in the mysterious mountains after a helicopter crashes there. The Kunar Base map appears to involve fighting on a hill. Players can choose between Combat Mission, where players either fight to clear objectives or hold the incoming forces back, or Sector Control, which is a "domination type game." All options can support up to 24 players at a time.
EA's press release assured players that there was a "major graphics overhaul," and elements such as the weapons pick-up system, hit detection, and support actions have been fixed.
Company president Frank Gibeau added that he hopes the beta will "clear up any misunderstanding about the patriotism and respect that are the foundation of this game" in reference to the controversy surrounding the reboot. "The Medal of Honor franchise has always shown extraordinary reverence for American and Allied soldiers -- this game is no exception."
Medal of Honor will be ready for release in North America on October 12 for the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
