World of Darkness MMOG teased at White Wolf Convention
MMOG based on Vampire: The Masquerade will be released in 2012 at earliest.
Vampire: The Masquerade fans were treated to a teaser trailer about the long-awaited World of Darkness MMORPG at the Grand Masquerade, a convention put on by White Wolf.
The popular tabletop game has already inspired two video games, Bloodlines and Redemption, as well as a short-lived TV series. The idea for an MMORPG based on Vampire: The Masquerade was revealed in 2006 when White Wolf and CCP merged, and four years later, details final emerge.
According to a tweet by designer Russell Baily, the game won't be released until at least 2012. He also tweeted that the MMO will "have a focus on player politics and social interaction," which is to be expected considering the common themes of the franchise.
CCP is best known for its creation of the MMOG EVE Online, which has fans of Vampire: The Masquerade speculating that WoD Online will give players a good amount of freedom. No other details about gameplay were given.
