Nintendo 3DS Release Date and Price Announced For Japan
Nintendo expects to release the 3DS February in Japan.
Nintendo announced today during a presentation in Japan that the 3DS will go on sale February 26, 2011 at the price of $25,000 yen ($300).
It will be released in Aqua Blue and Cosmo Black.
IGN reports on some additional details regarding Nintendo's new handheld. The 3DS will use the Mii characters made popular by the Wii in combination with "tag mode." The "tag mode" will take advantage of the 3DS's Wi-Fi capabilities and let 3DS users chat with each other, transfer data, and play games.
Another feature revealed is the "Mii Studio". It's a simplified version of the Mii editor on the Wii.
The 3DS will included a 2GB SD card to make photo transfers easier. Nintendo also mentioned that the virtual console will be available on the 3DS. So, Gameboy games, Gameboy Advance games, and classic games (with a 3D support) will be available online.
No release date has been established for European and North American markets yet.
