Gearbox Wants to Honor Old DNF Pre-Orders
New Duke Nukem Forever developer is working with retailers to keep pre-order promises.
At a recent London press event, Gearbox's Randy Pitchford told VG247 that the company is communicating with retailers to try and sort-out all of the customer pre-orders for the long-delayed Duke Nukem Forever.
Many gamers assumed that they had wasted their money after 3D Realms, the original developer of DNF, layed if the development team and shelved development. Now that Gearbox has taken over, they want to be fair to their future customers.
"We've been starting to talk with retailers because we didn't take [the pre-orders] directly, and 3D Realms didn't take them, it was all retailers going 'I'm going to take this guy's money,'" said Pitchford, "We've started to engage them, saying 'Hey, you've got customers who you made a promise to, and any bad feeling they have will reflect on us, so can we work together to do something for those people?'"
The developer isn't sure if they'll be able to honor every pre-order, but it seems like they certainly want to try.
Duke Nukem Forever will release in 2011 for the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
