Visceral's Dead Space 2 has four months for polish, says Zach Mumbach.

Visceral Games producer Zach Mumbach is very excited about the upcoming Dead Space sequel, saying at New York Comic Con that, "This is the best game that I've ever worked on."

According to The Escapist, Mumbach said that Dead Space 2 is all but finished, giving the development team nearly four months to polish the game and work out all the bugs. It isn't due until January 25, 2011.

Fans at NTCC were treated to a PS3 demo of the sequel in which they could explore the level that was shown at E3. It seems that the Stasis and Kinesis powers are still a prominent feature, and that there are still plenty of necromorphs to kill.

Mumbach also explained the decision to make Isaac Clarke a speaking character instead of a silent protagonist, saying that it was necessary for the progression of the story.

"To push the story in the direction that we wanted to push it, [Isaac] needed to take control. It's a difference between asking 'Are you projecting yourself on a character?' or 'Are you following a character?'"

The producer cited Isaac's own evolution as a character, comparing him to Ripley from Aliens, since he will have more experience with the horrible monsters than anyone else.

Dead Space 2 will be released for the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
