World of Warcraft Cataclysm: Reforging
Reforging is a new function implemented by Blizzard for the upcoming Cataclysm expansion pack. Reforging allows the player to alter secondary stats on armour and weapons.
A large recent patch implemented by Blizzard has introduced a number of changes to World of Warcraft in anticipation for the next expansion Cataclysm, due to be released in December.
Reforging
One of these changes is a new function called Reforging, which allows the player to change secondary stats on their equipment. Secondary stats are features such as haste. critical strike rating, hit rating and other stats listed in green on the item. Base stats such as stamina and intellect cannot be changed. The secondary stats can only be changed for other secondary stats on the item, such as reducing haste and replacing it with hit rating. The new stat of mastery can now be added to items at a reforger. The item to be reforged must be at least item level 200. Reforgers can be found in the horde and alliance cities as well as Dalaran, they are normally found in the same place as enchanting trainers.
Benefits of Reforging
Reforging has been accepted by a good idea as players have more choice on loot drops, previously an item may drop and have haste on it that would otherwise be good for a player except they require more critical strike rating. With reforging a player can take useful loot and alter it so it will be more suitable for their needs and game play. Reforging only costs 10 gold a time as well so it is very cheap to do.
World of Warcraft Cataclysm promises many changes to the game and this is one of many implemented before the actual release of the expansion.
