Nintendo to Show Off 3DS at Public Event

Fans will be able to experience the 3DS first hand before it's released.

Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata announced in a video message that the company will be holding a public event to demonstrate the 3DS and it's glasses-free 3D technology.

This event will be held next year on January 8-10 in the same place that they hold the Tokyo Game Show. It will be the first time that the general public will be able to get their hands on the new handheld, and will be the only large-scale event dedicated to it.

Further details will be announced at a later date. The Nintendo 3DS will be released in Japan on February 26, 2011, and on March 2011 in the U.S., Europe, and Australia.
