Microsoft to Make Kinect "Hybrid" Games

Kipman explains that some Kinect games will use the Xbox 360 controller.

Kinect director Alex Kipman told GamesIndustry about the little-known "hybrid" games for the the new hands-free Kinect system. These games will use both the Kinect and the Xbox 360 controller.

"What we haven't really talked about, but exist, are hybrid games. Games that are using the controller, which we know and love, and pieces, if not all, of the Kinect experiences to again make those experiences more immersive, more fun and more emotionally connected."

Microsoft had already mentioned that there would be ways to use the controller while playing with Kinect, but these are some of the first details that have been released. Kipman did not say what types of games would use this hybrid system, however.

Microsoft's Kinect was released on November 4 in North America, and will be released later in the month in Japan, Europe, and Australia.
